We arrived at the Hippodrome in Baltimore. I was immediately amazed by all the excellent outfits everything had on.
They were selling prop bags, filled with the many items that are used for audience participation like rubber gloves, glow lights, and bells, and we decided we should try to get one.
The line to get a prop bag, however, was incredibly long. But we settled ourselves in and enjoyed watching all the movie goers various costumes.
Having the show in the Hippodrome was a somewhat unusual setting, but somehow that made it the perfect setting. There was a huge turn out and I could tell this was a big event.
They had a costume contest, everyone that had a costume was a fan favorite and it was hard to get it down to a top 3.
Barry Boswick, AKA Brad, came in and gave an introduction. He was surprisingly funny and really played into the crowd.
At one point, an audience member came up and helped him do his classic leg lift from the floor show scene of the film.
Once the movie started they also had a cast that was acting out the film along with the movie. I wasn't expecting it but they were amazing.
Chocolate Covered Rocky Horror is an all black troupe that does these live performances during showings. They did an excellent job getting just as outrageous as the movie, and sometimes more so, and their wardrobes were reimagined in their own style while still clearly representing their characters.
During the showing I also got to witness the audience participation. We yelled at the characters, danced, and threw cards in the air.
Some of the experienced veterans shouted commentary at the screen. Seemingly nonsense zingers and one liners, however I could hear people across the theatre yelling it in unison. indefinitely felt like like I was witnessing something.
It was a great event to go to, especially so close to Halloween. I had a blast.
